One of the more gratifying (and challenging!) duties I carry out at Assistant Director of the Antioch Writers’ Workshop is overseeing the scholarships we award through a number of writing contests. This was my first year handling the entire process, and while sending emails to those who weren’t selected was painful for me (I’ve been on the receiving end of those far too often!), notifying the winners was a joy.
Today’s Other Authors Thursday features the complete list of AWW scholarship winners. Four writing contests over nearly seven months brought in hundreds of entries, and thirty-two lucky talented winners (as were all the entries). Sinclair Community College features their winners in an internal publication and later in their Flights literary journal. Mock Turtle zine will publish their winners in early June, and Dayton.com will post theirs in mid-June or so. AWW winners from 2014 look forward to being published this summer in a special volume celebrating the 30th anniversary of the workshop. I hope we can do the same for the 2015 winners next spring/summer.
Watch for these names; I have no doubt their talent will continue to shine!
